Public Fundraising to Support Ukrainian Healthcare
In conjunction with the international conference, the Global Healthcare Initiative for Ukraine, taking place on May 5-6 in Prague under the patronage of First Lady Eva Pavlova, we are organizing a public fundraising campaign in cooperation with the Centre for Humanitarian and Development Cooperation of Diakonia CCE. This initiative aims to support the Ukrainian healthcare system by providing much-needed assistance to hospitals and medical facilities facing critical shortages of medicines, medical supplies, and technical equipment.
The Ukrainian health sector is in crisis. Doctors and frontline paramedics are struggling to save lives, often without adequate resources. Shortages of medicines, bandages, surgical instruments, and basic emergency supplies are widespread. Prompt access to sufficient medical supplies is crucial for increasing survival rates and significantly reducing the risk of infections and complications.
“During these challenging times for our country, access to modern medical equipment and essential supplies allows us to save lives and provide quality healthcare to our citizens, including soldiers and internally displaced people now living in our region and neighboring areas,” Konstantin Vakulenko, Director of the Poltava Regional Cardiovascular Center, adds.
Where Our Help Goes:
Funds raised through this campaign will be used to purchase medical supplies and essential equipment for acute and long-term care at frontline hospitals in the following regions:
- Dnipropetrovsk region: A critical area in unoccupied Ukraine, located on the contact line, where soldiers receive urgent treatment directly from the front.
- Poltava region: A primary area for the treatment of stabilized patients en route to Kyiv.
Both regions are experiencing severe shortages of medical supplies. Equipment will be procured based on the specific and current needs of the hospitals with which we maintain regular contact.
Why Support This Campaign:
- The Czech Republic has been a long-term supporter of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
- Hospitals near the frontlines urgently require our assistance.
- We will support not only Ukraine but also Czech manufacturers of medical supplies.
How You Can Help:
- 300 CZK: Provides a basic treatment kit for minor injuries.
- 500 CZK: Covers a first aid kit for a patient with a bleeding injury in the emergency room.
- 1,000 CZK: Supplies basic dressing materials for a week’s treatment of burn injuries for one patient.
- 5,000 CZK: Helps equip an operating theater with medical supplies for an emergency procedure on a child with a serious injury.
- 10,000 CZK: Supplies a small outpatient clinic, treating hundreds of patients monthly, with a month’s worth of disposable supplies.
- 50,000 CZK: Provides a month’s supply of consumables for an ICU, sufficient for up to 30 critically ill patients.
Any donation, regardless of size, will contribute to saving lives. The list of materials is indicative; procurement will be based on specific needs.
Now is the time to provide essential aid where it is needed most—in healthcare facilities.
Donations can be made through the Darujme.cz platform. Comprehensive information about the fundraising and how to participate can be found on Darujme.cz or the Global Healthcare Initiative for Ukraine Conference website.
We invite the public, businesses, and organizations to join this vital initiative and help deliver healthcare to those who need it most.
